Jean is proud of his family’s coat of arms, which depicts Torse and a Bordure Shield in Black, Yellow and Gold. A surname of French origin, Graugnard refers to someone who lived on or owned a granary. In the Old French language, the word “grenier” means granary. Through his research, Graugnard uncovered that family crests originate from the Middle Ages and were widely used in Europe. These insignias marked a way to identify knights and nobles out of the battlefield, as well as in tournaments.
