TV & Movie Industry
More than 40 years ago, Rick Lyman entered the entertainment business as an entrepreneur and investor. Starting his career at a time when home video was on the rise, Lyman collaborated with producers looking to expand their reach beyond the cinema. He invested in unique distribution channels for VHS and Betamax tapes. Lyman even worked with creatives who released their films, movies and series direct-to-video. This era of home video entertainment was risky to many entrepreneurs. Most people still preferred to go to the cinema to watch a movie or check the TV Guide to see what’s on cable… But as an innovative entrepreneur, Lyman saw something more. He envisioned a side of entertainment where everyone had the opportunity to watch what they wanted, when they wanted. Lyman first saw this in the form of direct-to-video ventures. In the 2020s, streaming has become the standard. It’s safe to say, Lyman was right about something in the entertainment business!
