Kerry Ann Coman is a Student Teacher who is passionate about Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, Writing and Nutrition. She also works as a Health & Fitness Consultant.
Student Tutor
In high school, Kerry Ann Coman always excelled in her classes. Unfortunately, she noticed that some of her peers fell short in their own assignments. A caring individual who genuinely loves helping others, Coman offered to tutor anyone in her class who needed extra help. At the time, this was not a service that her school offered. She was happy to step up and fulfill this need among her peers at school. Many of her classmates reached out asking for helping and clarification — especially once SAT season rolled around! Coman launched her first Student Tutoring effort while she was still a high school student herself. After school and on the weekends, she provided one-on-one tutoring services to classmates in need of extra help. In preparation for SATs, Coman even hosted a two-week long after school tutoring program where she provided students with practice tests in anticipation of the big day. Ever since, the Student Tutor has made herself available to help others who struggle with their school work.
Behavioral Sciences in Learning
Throughout her experiences as a Student Tutor, Kerry Ann Coman has observed something that many Educators seem to ignore. That is the impact of mental health and behavior on a student’s ability to learn. Too often, mental health is overlooked in academic settings. Coman believes that this is largely due to the fact that most Educators and professionals in Education do not receive proper training on mental health. Coman aspires to change how psychology and behavior are approached in school, through her own work as an Educator and Mental Health Awareness Advocate.
