Shawn Behal is a self-described media consumer. In many ways, Behal believes that we are all media consumers because for better or worse, media is part of our everyday lives. For some people, the experience is passive. But for someone like Behal, consuming media is an interactive experience that presents a valuable opportunity to spread a message in an impactful way. By that, Behal means that he is someone who delves deeper than the surface of entertainment. From television shows to billboard advertisements, there is a message to be observed and shared. As a Public Relations professional who specializes in Strategic Communications, he often reverse-engineers different marketing and communications tactics in entertainment media. Behal’s commitment to analyzing media from a consumer perspective and standpoint adds strength and focus to his ability to spread messages of his own.
Shawn Behal first started his journey towards a career in Public Relations and Communications with the pursuit of his Associate’s degree in General Studies at a local community college. This experience afforded him the opportunity to really discover the direction he wanted to take, both academically and professionally. Thanks to the compelling and engaging courses that he took, Behal realized that he wanted to pursue a career in Communications. With that in mind, he continued his studies at Towson University where he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies. He is currently solidifying his focus with the pursuit of a Master’s degree in Strategic Communications. As of right now, Behal maintains a managerial role in the retail industry.
